Enterprise camp is now the second exploration team to complete Crew Resource Management (CRM) training in Zambia, run by Flightdeck Safety Initiatives, with the safety message being received very warmly by both teams. CRM or Lessons from the flight deck brings learning from the aviation industry direct to our own unique situation and takes a refreshing and humorous approach to the safety message providing new tools to help empower every member of the team. To date the course has seen a dramatic growth in employee-led safety at Kansanshi, driven by James Mwale, with a very positive safety culture growing as a result. Recurrent courses are now booked for August to help maintain momentum. For the future, Group Safety Manager Ken Nicol is investigating using CRM as a corporate strategy, so for 2014 start counting heads and checking your agenda for possible dates because the calendar is filling quick!
